Hooe Lake Camp Site

The camp is a green field site on the shore of Cawsand Bay and close to Mount Edgcumbe County Park. There is a tap at the top of the field but no toilet facilities.  We permit altar fires only, to be sited at the perimeter of the field.  There is a concrete slab by the Beacon for Camp Fires and Backwoods Cooking.  Materials for fire lighting can be gathered in the wooded area on the right hand side of the lane leading down to the site.

The Camp Site is part of the Mt Edgcumbe Country Park.  Entry to the Park and its gardens is free and they are open from dawn to dusk all year round. There is ample opportunity within the Park for nature trails, orienteering, treasure hunts etc.  Recently, a new tourist centre has opened very near to the house.  Here you will find a café in the old stables,  a gift shop and plant centre.  There is also an museum, an opportunity to watch bats by a remote camera and a film telling the history of the house and its grounds.  The complex is well worth a visit.
