The Scout Association is the largest
co-educational, multi-faith youth movement in the world. In the United Kingdom we have six dedicated sections covering the age ranges for both boys and girls. Details of these sections can be viewed in the purple drop down bars on the left.

The new Community Safety Badge was officially launched at Cornwall’s Emergency Management Centre, New County Hall, Truro at 12 o’clock on Tuesday, 13 July

More than 25,000 Scouts from Cornwall, Devon, and Essex will become the first in the UK to have the opportunity to learn what to do in a community emergency situation - thanks to an exciting new project led by Cornwall Council’s Emergency Management Service.

The project has involved the development of a pilot Community Safety Badge for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts. Click on the badge; this will take you to the badge requirements.

Challenge 350 – The Concept

Following the success of this event in October 2006, it has been agreed to run Challenge 350 again, although this time, the event will be bigger and more inclusive.

The objective: to have young people on the Cornish section of the coast path over a given weekend.

The coast path has been divided up into manageable sections of about 4km’s. Depending on the age of the walkers, teams can choose to complete either one section, or multiple sections. The older teams may like to consider doing an overnight hike, completing many sections.

I have tried where possible to ensure that there is parking facilities at the start or end of each section.

This year’s event is to be extended to include all Uniformed Youth Organisations, to enable them to raise funds for their own organisations/charities, although I would still like to see a donation made towards Shelter Box from monies they have raised from this event. The split for scouts is on the bottom of the sponsor form.

Shelter Box will supply a few Green Boxes that will also make its way over sections of the coast path. This is a great opportunity to promote all the organisations involved and I am anticipating, if the numbers are up that the publicity created from this will be fantastic (Let’s see if we can get ourselves in the Guinness book of records)!
